Cooperative Learning

Brett Gilbert

The coordinator of the Co-Op program is Mr. Brett Gilbert. He earned his B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Montevallo; his M.A. in Education from the University of West Alabama. He earned his Cooperative Education Certificate from Jacksonville State University and also received National Board Certification in the area of Mathematics. Mr. Gilbert is in his 10th year of teaching within the Bibb County School System. He began his teaching career at BCHS where he taught mathematics and marketing before transferring to BCCA.

Within the Bibb County School system, we have a vast number of students who participate in the Bibb County Career Academy’s Co-Op Program and are in work-based learning sites as apprentices or interns. This semester there are 50 Co-Op students who work in Bibb County businesses, as well as Shelby, Tuscaloosa, and Jefferson Counties. Businesses employing BCCA’s Co-Op students include:
