Automotive Technology Services

Daniel Kelly

Daniel Kelly began teaching Automotive Technology Services at Bibb County Career Academy during the 2021 - 2022 school year.  He started his career in the automotive field as a mechanic in the military and has remained in the field for over 20 years.

The BCCA's Automotive Technology Services program is held to the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation (NATEF) standard.  This standard ensures students are provided with updated tools, equipment and shop facilities.  NATEF, founded in 1893, requires programs (like the one at BCCA) to uphold standards developed by the automotive industry and the recommendation of qualifying programs for accreditation by the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).  This standard is passed along to each student.  Students are given up-to-date instruction and are expected to rise to the challenge.

The Automotive Technology Services program includes a Maintenance and Light Repair program that covers all eight general areas of the automobile.  The eight general areas include:  brakes, steering and suspension, electrical/electronics, engine performance, engine repair, heating and cooling, maintenance and light repair and manual drive train and axles. Students have the potential to earn ASE student credentials in each of the eight areas.  These credentials are a career readiness indicator that improves the students' chances of getting hired into the automotive industry after high school.

The Automotive Technology Services program at BCCA has a partnership with Shelton State Community College (SSCC).  These courses can earn students high school and college credit through the SSCC Dual Enrollment program.
